Taklift 4 – EnBWBaltic 2 Project – Baltic Sea
Scancrown´s Marine Warranty Surveyor, Bjarne Mikkelsen, was part of the project EnBWBaltic 2 in the period August – September 2014. Bjarne worked on Taklift 4, a 1600t floating sheerleg and his role was to supervise the installation of wind turbine jackets on the seabed.
The jackets were produced by Blatt Industries at their facility in Lindø, Denmark, and transported by barges to Trelleborg. Afterwards, all the jackets were installed on the field with the help of the floating crane, Taklift 4. The 3 legs of the jackets were placed in the special designated places of the seabed with the help of a ROW. The installation was only possible on good weather and the weather forecast had to be available for a 12 hours period and respect certain rules. Only in these conditions Bjarne could approve the operation of moving the jacket on the field and install it. Once the jackets were secured to the seabed, one could proceed to the rest of the installation: tower, nacelle and wings.
